Dr. Tali Shenfield is an expert in the areas of school psychology and child clinical psychology. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto and is licensed as a Psychologist by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Dr. Shenfield is accredited by the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association. She has several publications in scientific journals and is a frequent presenter at international conferences and symposia. Dr. Shenfield lectured at the University of Toronto and worked as a child psychologist at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto District School Board, York Catholic District School Board, and the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, providing clinical and psychoeducational services to a wide range of clients. She is the Clinical Director of our center and provides supervision and oversight to other psychologists and psychotherapists.
Dr. Willi Steinke is a licensed school and clinical psychologist and a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He holds a PhD in Psychology from Queen's University and has over 15 years of experience working with children and adolescents in the Toronto District School Board and the Halton District School Board. Dr. Steinke has many publications in various psychology and neuropsychology journals and has presented his research at international conferences and workshops. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Queen's University and Southern Methodist University. At our centre, Dr. Steinke supervises psycho-educational assessments and provides therapeutic services for children and adolescents.
Dr. Steinke uses CBT and Strength-Based therapeutic approach to help clients who struggle with attentional, behavioral, self-esteem issues as well as anxiety and depression. His extensive experience at the school board provides him with an unique understanding of how learning obstacles affect children’s social interactions, confidence and behavior.
Anat Elbaum is an experienced therapist who has worked in various mental health public and private agencies in Canada and abroad. Ms. Elbaum has 30 years of experience treating men, women, children and adolescents. Her areas of specialization include treating sexual, physical and emotional trauma, separation, divorce and blended families, marital and family conflicts, anxiety, depression and school related challenges. She has helped people who experienced adjustment to major life events like adoption, immigration and grief, difficulty in parent/child relations, parenting challenging children and other issues. Ms. Elbaum is a versatile clinician who draws on several therapeutic approaches such as Family and Marriage Therapy, Attachment Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Short Term Therapy, Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Therapeutic Cards. She brings clients to change with respect, warmth, empathy and humour. Ms. Elbaum is a Registered clinical Family and Marriage Therapist (RMFT) and a Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) licensed to work in the province of Ontario. She was Adjunct Lecturer at The Faculty of Social Work at The University of Toronto.
Jeremiah is a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Jerry has over 30 years of experience practicing psychology. He worked for the Toronto District School Board, York Region Catholic District School Board, and some Jewish schools. Jerry has accumulated a vast amount of experience assessing children with Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Deficits and Behaviour Disorders. He is also experienced in behaviour intervention and has consulted to programmes and families with social/emotional and behavioural needs. At our centre, he supervises psycho-educational and ADHD assessments.
Karen is a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals. She has a master’s degree in psychology from York University in addition to graduate coursework through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. In her more than 30 years in the field she has gained extensive knowledge and experience serving diverse clients with a broad range of needs through her work at Youthdale Treatment Centres, Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehab, Thames Valley District School Board, and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Her career has predominantly been in school psychology with the TDSB in her role as Psychological Associate assessing children and adolescents and providing consultation services to parents and school personnel.
Nastaran Adibrad is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She holds a Ph.D in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Teacher Training University of Iran. Dr. Adibrad taught Psychology at Esfahan University and was a faculty member of Psychology and Educational Science Department of Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. Dr. Adibrad published five books, eighty articles and participated in several TV shows focused on psychological aspects of immigration. Her recent TV show, called "Pure Moments" covered the needs of Iranian-Canadian families as well as those Iranians living in other countries. Dr. Adibrad specializes in Couple and Family Therapy.
Abraham Nehmad is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). He has 25 years of experience treating individuals, couples, families, adolescences and children. His areas of expertise include stress management, anxiety, depression, grief, marital conflict, separation and divorce, blended families, parenting challenging children, ADHD, school-related issues, and communication between parents and their adolescent children. Mr. Nehmad draws on different therapeutic approaches in his work including systemic, narrative and psycho-dynamic treatments. He has strong clinical skills in brief and focused therapy, combining good sense of humor with deep and respectful emotional therapeutic interventions. Mr. Nehmad holds the title of Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Social Work at The University of Toronto and works as a senior clinician and supervisor at the George Hull Centre.
Mariya Kochetkova holds a Specialized Honours Bachelor degree in Psychology from York University and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Adler Graduate Professional School. Ms. Kochetkova is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychological Associate (supervised). Mariya has conducted cognitive, academic, psychoeducational and socio-emotional assessments as well as therapy work in various settings including the York Catholic District School Board and Regesh Family Child Services. Mariya draws from a number of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy. To further expand the range of her professional skills, Mariya enrolled in the Canadian Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy which allows her to blend the psychodynamic perspective into her approach to therapy. When working with families, Mariya focuses her clinical attention on early attachment patterns and underlying dynamic relations between various family members.
Elif Wonders is a psychologist (Interim Autonomous Practice) and a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario with specializations in clinical psychology and school psychology. Elif holds a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in School/Applied Child Psychology from McGill University. She has worked as a psychometrist since 2010 and has performed psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. As a therapist, Elif draws from different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches, Play Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Ms. Wonders worked as a psychoeducational consultant for the Toronto District School Board and other school and private practice settings in Alberta and Ontario.
Camilla Moreira is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP), and Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy. Ms. Moreira obtained her Master's degree from the Adler Graduate Professional School and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Camilla has experience in multiple therapeutic modalities incl. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy. She conducted psycho-educational assessments at the Peel Region School Board and provided psychological therapy for children, youth, and adults with depression, anxiety (incl. separation anxiety, fears, phobia, OCD, and PTSD), grief and loss, attachment issues, social skills problems, etc. At our centre, Camilla provides child therapy, gifted and ADHD assessments.
Ayana Spivak is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association (OEATA). She obtained her Master's degree in Psychology from the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education. She also holds diplomas from the Institute of Practical Psychology and Psychoanalysis and from the Canadian Institute of Creative Integrative Arts Therapies. Ayana has been practicing psychotherapy for over 10 years working with children, teens, and adults. She is experienced in multiple therapeutic modalities incl. cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, mindfullness-based therapy, and expressive arts therapy.
Jessica Prieur holds a Bachelor degree in Mental Health from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the Adler Graduate Professional School. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Ms. Prieur is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) where she is licensed as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Jessica joined our team in 2018 and focuses on conducting psychoeducational and ADHD assessments for children and adults. Previously, she worked as a research assistant at Baycrest Health Sciences, where she was investigating eye-movement tracking and how it relates to cognitive impairments.
Ruth Budd is an experienced Psychometrist and Art Therapist with 15 years experience working with children and adolescents. Ruth holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler Graduate Professional School and a Masters' level diploma from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. Ruth has a strong interest and background in studying attachment patterns and the developmental and emotional issues of children. She has extensive experience conducting cognitive, academic, psychoeducational and socio-emotional assessments, as well as Art Psychotherapy in various settings such as Ford and Associates, the Hinks-Dellcrest Centre and in private practice.
Elana Goldin-Lerman is a Registered Psychotherapist, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Social Worker with over 15 years experience working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. She holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler Graduate Professional School. Elana is licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and is an Approved Clinical Supervisor with both American and Ontario Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT/OAMFT). She is also certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) and is pursuing the supervisory designation in EFT. Elana is teaching a masters level course for Social Workers at Windsor University on a part time basis. In her work with clients, Elana is committed to providing a safe atmosphere where clients' challenges and concerns can be fully heard and addressed.
Ariana Adibrad is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist. Ariana earned her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. She provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults with anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges. In her practice, she combines Attachment and Client-Centered therapeutic approaches and, based on client’s needs, she uses a variety of therapeutic modalities such as CBT, ACT, play therapy and art therapy. Ariana has a lot of experience working with children and adolescents who come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
Christal conducts psychoeducational and ADHD assessments in our clinic. She holds Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the Adler Graduate Professional School. Christal worked as a psychometrist at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. Ms. Sotirov is a Board Member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
Jovana holds Masters Degree in Developmental Psychology and Education from the University of Toronto. She worked at the University of Toronto, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and the Framework Therapy and Assessment Centre. Jovana has extensive experience with cognitive, social-emotional, neuropsychological, and behavioural assessments for children and adolescents. In our centre, she is focusing on gifted and psychoeducational assessments.
Shirley Fong is an office manager and a psychoeducational/ADHD coach. You may meet Shirley in the reception area or she can be found in one of the offices responding to client inquiries, conducting psychoeducational interventions, or coordinating work of admin staff. Shirley completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at York University and she plans to continue her studies in Child Development. Shirley is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Tegan is completing Masters Degree in clinical and counselling psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Studies from Ryerson University. Before joining our team, Tegan was a behavior therapist at WM+A Alphabee where she provided one-on-one Intensive Behavior Intervention (IBI) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents. In our centre, Tegan works as a psychometrist and conducts cognitive and academic assessments. Tegan is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Sandy is our front desk receptionist. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Carleton University. Prior to joining our team, Sandy worked at a youth organization in the Ottawa Catholic District School Board where she provided support to special needs children, focusing on unique physical and emotional behavioural challenges.
Dr. Earnest Light is a licensed psychologist in the province of Ontario. Dr. Light worked as a Clinical Psychologist in several mental health facilities. He was a Clinical Director of a crisis unit for adolescents where he worked with victims of sexual abuse. Dr. Light has worked as a Psychologist in mental health institutions in Canada since 1997. He has conducted his private practice since 2001. His research and practical skills are recognized internationally. Dr. Light was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco and the State University of New York in Geneseo. Dr. Light's main interests lie in implementing therapeutic techniques of various modalities to a wide spectrum of life experience. He works with symptoms of anxiety, depression as well as posttraumatic stress, bereavement, feelings associated with life-limiting illnesses, family and sexual difficulties, and problems associated with adolescent development. Dr. Light works with adults, couples, families, and adolescents. His office is located in Thornhill, Ontario.
